Why see HAIRSPRAY ?  The music, the dancing and singing!  But overall the story… the simple tale of loving each other no matter the size, shape, color or ANYTHING!  We can achieve harmony when we learn to appreciate each other in our similarities and differences.
HAIRSPRAY is set in 1962 Baltimore Maryland, what can this story teach us today?  The optimism that Tracy Turnblad and the Coolest and Nicest kids achieved is still far from being a reality.  It is sad that the same fears, phobias and misaligned stereotypes that kept our country apart 55 ago, are still alive all these years later.  But I remain hopeful that if we continue to tell these stories and create this art then we will continue to strive for harmony, and unity with each other.  It amazes me that after all the sit-ins, marches, protests, and voices crying out for change, how far we are from the dream of the civil rights Era in America.  Now, Baltimore is still in an uproar (i.e. Freddie Gray) and the entire country is embroiled in turmoil and strife on every level.  Maybe we can learn from seeing how we haven’t come as far as we thought.

HAIRSPRAY is set in 1962 Baltimore Maryland, what can this story teach us today? Even though this show takes place in the 60s, there’s an important  message of unity and acceptance that a lot of people need to witness today.  We’re currently living in a very divided America saturated with violence and discrimination. This show sprinkles hope that change can and will happen.

Why see HAIRSPRAY? This show has a wonderful message and that’s one reason to come and see it. But there is nothing better than watching people do what they are passionate about. There is something so magical when a group of people comes together, from all different walks of life, to present a heart warming production. You should see HAIRSPRAY to experience the many smiles and beautiful faces on stage.
HAIRSPRAY is set in 1962 Baltimore Maryland, what can this story teach us today? HAIRSPRAY obviously addresses race issues and I wasn’t completely aware of many of the struggles that black people face today until I started to get to know many of my fellow, black cast mates. They have opened my eyes to racism that is still present today and HAIRSPRAY teaches a great message and reminds us all that it isn’t about new cars, blonde hair, or cool dance moves. It’s about the heart.

Why see HAIRSPRAY? This is one of the most talented and kind group of actors I have ever had the privilege to work with. Everyone is so dedicated, and I get excited each day at rehearsal seeing what they all bring to the table. It’s definitely got a lot of heart, and although this is going to be like other productions of Hairspray that you’ve seen in certain aspects, I guarantee, we are still going to bring a different perspective and a whole lot of love to that stage.
HAIRSPRAY is set in 1962 Baltimore Maryland, what can this story teach us today? This story is all about coming together and realizing that at the core, we are all the same. In today’s America, I think this story is still incredibly prevalent. Our communities need to come together in the midst of all of the tragedy that has been taking place. Our hearts are all the same, experiencing heartbreak, love, excitement, anger. At the end of the day, we as a community must bond and support one another regardless of race, size, sexual orientation, or whatever it may be.
