Movie: Lately…Birdman. That movie is a cinematic masterpiece.
Musical: Spring Awakening or The Last Five Years, but I cycle through. Right now, I’m really into Man of La Mancha, Little Shop of Horrors, and Bright Star.
Color: Blue probably. I like light pink too.
Animal: My English Bulldog, Molly!
Book: I just finished The Disaster Artist and it was great!
Band: fun. I wish they would come back.
Song: “i” by Kendrick Lamar; if I had a “walk-up” song, that would be it.

Ring in the Holidays with Annie!

Spend the Holidays at Town Hall Arts Center’s for our 2013-2014 production of Annie, book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse, and lyrics by Martin Charnin. Annie is directed by Robert Wells, Henry Award winning director of Town Hall’s 2013 production of The 39 Steps and director of last year’s The Sound of Music. Musical direction is by Donna Kolpan Debreceni, Henry Award Winner, The Who’s Tommy and choreographed by Kelly Kates, most recently here for the 2013 production of 9 to 5: The Musical.

annie_7Featured in this production is Sydney Fairbairn as Annie, Sydney is making her Town Hall Art Center debut, but has recently been seen performing for The Younger Generation Players. Daniel Langhoff returns after a long hiatus from Town Hall to perform the roll of Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks, Daniel was most recently seen at Town Hall in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee as Panch. Back after closing last season at Town Hall in HAIR is Rebekah Ortiz as Grace, recently seen at the Arvada Center in No Dogs Allowed. We also welcome for only her second Main Stage production, LuAnn Buckstein as Miss Hannigan, LuAnn teaches children’s theatre at Town Hall and has been a part of the Denver Theater community in one capacity or another for many years, last seen at Town Hall in The Odd Couple.Annie

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan ANNIE charms everyone’s hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find her parents, and with the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, ANNIE escapes to the wondrous and magical world of NYC. Through her fun-filled adventures, ANNIE wins the affections of tycoon Daddy Warbucks, and finds a new home and family.

Town Hall’s production opens November 15, 2013 and runs through December 29, 2013. Show times are Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. (& 2:00 p.m. on 11/30, 12/7, & 12/21) & Sundays at 2 p.m. (& 6:30 p.m. on 12/15).

Sound of Music is sure to be a Holiday Favorite!

Sound of Music always brings back such fond memories, not only from young childhood cuddled up on the couch with my mom (who, like me, still leaves it on every time she comes across it on television), but from my senior year of high school. My dearest friend in the world (to this day) played Maria, and we had the best time! I was eager to see last night’s rehearsal at Town Hall, because I hadn’t see the show staged since then, and I was thrilled at how well it has all come together. You can’t help but sing along to the songs, and the shows most prominent message still resonates in practically any situation.

So, I will leave you with some great footage shot last night by our new film intern, Alec Williams! Enjoy (and get your tickets)!

The Sound of Music opens at Town Hall Arts Center Next Week!

The next production in Town Hall Arts Center’s 2012-2013 Season will be The Sound of Music, with Music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. This musical is directed by Robert Wells, choreographed by Kelly Kates, with musical direction by Donna Kolpan Debreceni.

Rebekah Ortiz as Maria

Featured in this production are Rebekah Ortiz as Maria, Keegan Flaugh as Captain von Trapp, and Samantha Jo Staggs as Mother Abbess. This classic musical is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, The Story of the von Trapp Family Singers, and features many songs that have become standards, including the title song “The Sound of Music,” “Edelweiss,” “My Favorite Things,” “Climb Ev’ry Moutain,” and “Do-Re-Mi.”

Town Hall’s production opens November 16, 2012 and runs through December 30, 2012. Show times are Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. (& 2:00 p.m. on 11/24, 12/8, 12/22 & 12/29) & Sundays at 2 p.m. (& 6:30 p.m. on 12/6).
