LET’S GET TO KNOW YOU…
Name: Katherine Scott Jackson, but you can call me Katie

DOB: December 22nd
Hometown: Houston, TX
Education: Masters in Vocal Performance from Ole Miss!
Day Job: Starbucks

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE…
Holiday Tradition: Oh, we always make sugar cookies–both with colored sugar and with colored icing. I always look forward to that!

Off-Time: Exploring some new place I’ve never been before with my husband, with friends or just by myself! Or trying some new recipe–this summer we’ve been making a lot of salsa!
Season: I love the fall, but winter is my second favorite. Snow is magical!
Movie: Hm…that is a hard question! But I’m always up for a Harry Potter movie! So much nostalgia tied in with those! (Plus, I love school supply shopping–and so whenever they’re picking out their back-to-school list items in Diagon Alley, it’s just always so exciting!)
Musical: This is also difficult–I’ll have to go with my current favorite, which is “Daddy Long Legs”–the score is exquisite, and the story is beautiful.
Color: Green!
Animal: I’m partial to wolves.
Book: Currently? Probably Little Women or Anne of Green Gables…
Song: Right now it’s the entire Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack–so good!
Beverage: Coffee

THIS OR THAT…
Past, Present, or Future? I try to live in the moment, but that is sometimes difficult! Especially in a job that often has you thinking so far ahead. So, I try to stay in the present, to not worry too much about the future, and to avoid lingering too long in the past.
Cats or Dogs? Oh–both. Why choose?
Beer or Wine? Wine
Sweet of Sour? Both…depends on the mood!
Mild or Spicy? Both.
Coffee or Tea? Both. (Sense a trend here?)
Piercings or Tattoos? A lady never tells…
FroYo or Ice Cream? Ice Cream!
City or Country? City (but it’s nice to escape to the Country!)
Coke or Pepsi? Coke
Netflix or Hulu?  Netflix
Early Bird or Night Owl? Early bird–come visit me at Starbucks some morning!

ANSWER ME THIS…
When life hands you lemons? You make yourself some lavender lemon cookies! (Why yes, I have the recipe and yes, they are delicious!)

Who do you admire most? My mom.
What is your biggest fear? To be unprepared for something–or not equal to the task.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? We’ll probably still be here in Colorado, still heavily involved with theatre while juggling family life with that!
What is one thing on your “bucket” list? We’d still love to travel more–in the states, abroad, etc.
What is the most rewarding advice you’ve received? You may not be able to control what happens, but you can control how you respond to those circumstances. Decide to view things as a learning opportunity.  Choose to grow and to enjoy the journey. You’ll be happier (and better) for it!
Can we follow you? FB? Twitter? Instagram? By all means! (Facebook.)
Why see A Christmas Carol? Because it’s such a heartwarming, wonderful Christmas-y story that’s told through beautiful music and storytelling. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry–you’ll love it. Fun for the whole crew–bring ’em all!

Why see American Idiot? This is a stellar cast and we have truly created something special for everyone. Also, we will rage hard, rock your faces off, and hopefully bring some awareness to the world in it’s current state. Things haven’t changed too much since I was 9 years old when this album came out. I hope this show starts a conversation about how far we have to go.

Why see HAIRSPRAY? This is one of the most talented and kind group of actors I have ever had the privilege to work with. Everyone is so dedicated, and I get excited each day at rehearsal seeing what they all bring to the table. It’s definitely got a lot of heart, and although this is going to be like other productions of Hairspray that you’ve seen in certain aspects, I guarantee, we are still going to bring a different perspective and a whole lot of love to that stage.
HAIRSPRAY is set in 1962 Baltimore Maryland, what can this story teach us today? This story is all about coming together and realizing that at the core, we are all the same. In today’s America, I think this story is still incredibly prevalent. Our communities need to come together in the midst of all of the tragedy that has been taking place. Our hearts are all the same, experiencing heartbreak, love, excitement, anger. At the end of the day, we as a community must bond and support one another regardless of race, size, sexual orientation, or whatever it may be.
