Production Classes and Camps
Actors’ Playground Production Classes and Camps at Town Hall Arts Center are a building block of the foundation of our Theatre Education Program.
Students come to the theatre for after-school, weekend and summer instruction led by our staff of working professionals. Classes are designed for youth who are new to theatre and for those who already have developed a love for performing — and they typically culimate with a performance for family and friends on the Main Stage.
Our Actors’ Playground offerings are age-appropriate, giving students the opportunity to work with their peers in a fun, intellectually challenging environment. Classes often are divided among students ages 5-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 13-18 and are held in 8-10 week sessions, providing ample time for participants to learn lines, movement and all-around performance skills.
These classes and camps are offered year ’round because they’re popular. Spaces fill up quickly. We welcome questions at EMAIL and PHONE NUMBER.
Production Musicals and Plays
As part of our unique summer season, Actors’ Playground also offers youth the opportunity to perform in a full-scale musical!
We stage two of these productions on our Main Stage — one for youth ages 12-17, the other for children ages 7-11. Both productions are complete with Broadway scripts (think Broadway Jr. and High School editions), lights, sound, costumes — and plenty of direction, design, choreography and rehearsal from our expert theatre education staff before the big show! Recent musicals have included Mary Poppins, Legally Blonde, Grease and Guys and Dolls.
Participating students rehearse three-four weeks before the curtain opens.
For students more interested in pursuing performance in a play format of comedy, drama or Shakespeare, we also offer one full non-musical production on our Main Stage.
These productions have limited enrollment and tend to fill up fast — so please look for listings and registration in the spring!
